1997 - Present: SpeakEasy Vancouver; Small group communication and discussion-based teaching forum designed to maximize student output while at the same time offering ample student feedback.

2000: Published BC Car-Free: Exploring Southwestern British Columbia Without a Car, a 340-page outdoor guidebook for the energy-considerate.

1995 - 1997: YMCA Vancouver (English Language Institute;) Instructing young adults of mixed national origins. Developed unique, Vancouver-based curricula including one month outdoor-based ESP program and one month introduction to Canadian Lifestyles course for newcomers. Authored a 50+ page textbook that includes YMCA policies, BC Rental Law, Banking, GST Rebate, BC Transit, Entertainment, Travel in BC, Vancouver Public Library Resources, Sexual Safety, Driving and Renting a car, Orientation to Vancouver and Immigration and Visa Procedures.

1992 - 2004: Off-Season; Teaching ESL, TOEIC/TOEFL and CALL (Computer Assisted Language Learning,) and operating the activities program at a variety of Vancouver language schools including Westcoast English Language Centre, Global English, EF International.

1992 - 1995: Director, Explore Canada Outdoor Adventures; Provided a diverse range of outdoor recreation experiences for Vancouver ESL Schools and the public at large. Activities included backpacking, skiing, horseback riding, river rafting, kayaking, nature viewing, camping, canoeing, cave exploring, fishing and more. Developed original teaching materials based on outdoor safety, technique, flora, fauna and environment.

1991: University of British Columbia, English Language Institute, Vancouver, B.C.; Instructed evening and summer programs.

1989 - 1990: Kanda University of Foreign Languages, Chiba, Japan. Instructed second year English conversation to Spanish and Korean majors.

1990 - 1991: American University in Paris, Paris, France; Led video-based ESL workshop.

1988 - 1990: Wayo Women's Jr. College, Ichikawa City, Japan. Instructed first and second year English conversation.

1988 - 1990: Iidabashi Foreign Language College, Tokyo, Japan. Instructed first and second year English conversation, reading and writing, idioms and video.

1989 - 1990: Nihon University of Science and Technology, Tsudanuma. Led a bi-weekly English discussion group comprised of professors from various faculties.

1986 - 1988: YEA Kokusai Gakuin and Kyoto English Centre, Kyoto Japan.

1983 - 1986: Director, Nexus Communications, Vancouver, B.C. Provided consultancy services for the following: B.C. Ministry of Tourism, Greater Vancouver Regional District, Sport Medicine Council of B.C., BC School Sports, Sport B.C., and many other sport and recreation associations. Services provided included photography, poster and display board design, special promotions, advertising design and media relations.

1982 - 1983: Information officer, Outdoor Recreation Council of B.C., Duties included copywriting and preparation of all in-house publications including newsletters, brochures, and handling all media relations.

1978 - 1979: Newspaper reporter/photographer, Nanaimo Times, Duties included general news reporting and photography.

1977: Managing editor, Malaspina College Navigator, Nanaimo, B.C. Duties encompassed all editorial and production related activities.
